ArtInChip D125 Handheld Game Console Solution

UltraSemi's ArtInChip D125 solution provides a portable platform for classic game emulation. A 5.5-inch display with a 1280 × 720 resolution, physical buttons and joysticks form the basis for on-screen gameplay and handheld controls.

The software direction is game emulation, with support for ROMs from the NES/FC and SNES/SFC platforms. Display selection, board design and enclosure layout can be developed around the intended games, controls and product structure.

Product Concept and Hardware

Enclosure Concept

ArtInChip D125 handheld console concept showing a landscape display, dual joysticks, directional controls, action buttons and shoulder buttons

The concept places a landscape display between left and right controls, illustrating dual joysticks, directional controls, action buttons and shoulder buttons. Enclosure colors, grip areas and button placement provide a reference for mechanical evaluation.

This is a product appearance concept. The game illustration, wording and depicted interfaces do not establish measured performance, published open-source materials or a final production configuration.

Board Front and Display

The front view shows the display, joysticks and button layout for evaluating thumb reach, screen placement and board structure. The screen illustration demonstrates visual layout; actual emulator output and aspect ratio depend on the game and software configuration.

Board Back and Connectors

The rear view shows components, connectors, card slots and routing for evaluating enclosure openings, assembly space and power design. Interface functions and final component configurations depend on the project documentation.

Core Experience

A 5.5-inch Landscape Display

The 1280 × 720 panel offers a 16:9 area for game images, emulator menus and status information. Classic games use different original aspect ratios. Software evaluation can compare preserving the original ratio, adding borders and scaling to avoid unwanted stretching.

Panel resolution describes the display hardware. It does not imply that emulators render at that resolution or establish the frame rate of a particular game.

Classic Platform Emulation

NES and FC, and SNES and SFC, refer to their respective platform families. The solution targets emulation for these two classic platform families and supports corresponding ROM content. Actual compatibility depends on the emulator core, software version, ROM format and game features. Test intended games against the target software version.

Physical Controls and Joysticks

The board images show dual joysticks and physical buttons suitable for directional input, actions and menu navigation. Evaluation can focus on button feel, joystick travel, grip comfort and consistent menu controls. Shoulder button configuration and input mapping require confirmation against the actual hardware and software.

Product Development and Materials Plan

The solution is intended for portable entertainment devices, retro handheld products and embedded game interaction projects. Start by defining target platforms and games, then evaluate emulator versions, image scaling, input mapping and mechanical layout.

Open hardware documentation and software materials are in preparation. Downloads are not yet available on this page. Publication scope, supported board revisions, build instructions and licensing will be defined in the release materials.

For project evaluation, provide target platforms, display requirements, control layout, enclosure dimensions, storage and power needs. Emulator cores, save functions, audio configuration, battery life, thermal design and production configuration can then be reviewed individually.
