macOS 26.1: Add screen recording permission

After installing the macOS driver, if extended display does not work, grant Screen & System Audio Recording permission to MacUsbDisplay as follows.

Step 1: Open Screen & System Audio Recording settings

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.

Open System Settings and Screen & System Audio Recording

You should see the allow list (it may be empty at first):

Screen & System Audio Recording permission panel

Step 2: Open the folder containing the driver files

In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… (Shift + Command + G) and enter:

text
/usr/local/bin

Go to /usr/local/bin

This folder contains the MacUsbDisplay executable (and usbdisplay_uninstall, etc.).

Step 3: Drag MacUsbDisplay into the list and confirm

Drag MacUsbDisplay into the Screen & System Audio Recording app list. Enter your administrator password when prompted and click Modify Settings.

Drag MacUsbDisplay into the permission list

Enter password and confirm Modify Settings

Once added, MacUsbDisplay appears in the list and display extension should work. If not, reconnect the device or restart and try again.
